D.C.’s Latest French Outpost
For going on three years the 14th street corridor – or what Washingtonian magazine recently dubbed D.C.’s “Hip Street” – has evolved into some of the most bustling real estate in the city. Plans to build on nearly every block have been set in motion, with new restaurants cropping up on a near-monthly basis, each one trendier than the last. Diners can slurp oysters at Pearl Dive, share Spanish tapas at Estadio, and fork into a whole head of pig at Standard. Last month their options multiplied with the opening of Le Diplomate, which bills itself as a French food mecca: part café, bar à vins, restaurant, bistro, and brasserie.
